The former base of a brick manufacturer has been turned into a business park in a £3m project.
Tyrone Brick, on the Cookstown Road near Dungannon, made bricks from local clay for more than two centuries, before closing in 2009.
The site was snapped up by Maximus Crushing & Screening Ltd – one of many heavy equipment firms to have sprung up in the region.
The company moved its headquarters to the yard from nearby Coalisland, and is now set to open the Brickworks Business Park on a disused part of the site.
The new development has nine units on sale for a total figure of £2.9m, with individual prices ranging from £117,000 for a 0.7-acre site to £650,000 for a unit with existing buildings.
Shane O’Neill, the managing director of Maximus Crushing & Screening Ltd, said: “This announcement is a hugely positive news story of inward investment and job creation for Dungannon.
“We are building a brand new business park from scratch in an area in which there is a severe shortage of quality industrial land. With potentially nine sites over a 20-acre area, this is set to become a landmark site that will appeal to a wide range of prominent manufacturing and engineering firms and their suppliers.”
Property agents Lisney and Maneely & Co have been instructed to sell the units, which have been put on the market ahead of the official opening of the business park at the end of the year.
Lisney associate director Andrew Gawley said: “We already have one large site under offer, which proves the major demand which exists throughout this area for quality industrial development land.
“The sites available range from 0.7 to 7.5 acres and will appeal to large companies and smaller expanding companies alike.
“Dungannon and the surrounding area has a strong pedigree of long-standing, successful firms, such as Dunbia and Moy Park.
